A new test of CAPD designed to measure temporal resolution. Temporal resolution; critical to speech perception; involves the ability of the auditory system to detect rapid changes in offsets of and onsets of sound.
In this test; patients are scored according to their ability to detect changes in the duration of gaps of silence embedded within a noise burst.
Research suggests that the GIN is not influenced by maturational effects after age 6 making it a valuable addition to central auditory test batteries for both children and adults.
